No, Maddie is not punching her sister, even though it looks like it! They are posing in their christening dresses before their baptism. Both of them are wearing special dresses. Anna is wearing a 60 year old dress from Cuba that her Abuela (John's mom) and her great-Tia Maria (John's Aunt and his mom's sister) wore for their christenings. It was originally left behind in Cuba when their family left in 1960 but the family got it back nearly 20 years later.
Maddie's dress is the one her dad wore (and the one John's cousin Mary wore).
